As a member you

Membership fees
pay for costs of:
- Promoting rail transit
and intercity rail
- Printing and mailing
the newsletter and other print materials
- Hosting the general
membership meetings
- Maintaining our website
As advocates for
passenger rail and transit, our members:
- Follow federal, state,
and local legislative rail and transit initiatives
- Contact elected officials
to support rail and transit service
- Work with the Colorado
Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation
District, and other agencies to expand passenger
rail and transit services
- Participate in advisory
groups and public forms on rail and transit
issues
- Engage the media to
promote rail and transit projects
- Work with Amtrak to
promote rail and rail/transit related activities
- Coordinate rail and
transit advocacy activities with the National
Association of Railroad Passengers (NARP)
as well as with rail and transit associations
in neighboring states
- Coordinate passenger
rail and transit activities with other consumer,
environmental, and pro-transit organizations
- Educate the public on
and raise public awareness about the advantages
and benefits rail travel.

Founded in 1989,
ColoRail members have helped to:
- Defeat proposals to
remove trains from Denver Union Station (DUS)
- Develop DUS as an intermodal
transportation facility
- Expand Amtrak services,
including initiation of Amtrak Thruway Bus
connecting services
- Promote legislation
to address railroad abandonment
- Support public financing
for passenger rail and transit including RTD
FasTracks
- Support multimodal transportation
legislation
- Establish rail and other
transit modes as a viable and realistic alternative
to highway construction
